Adelaide defender Chelsea Biddell says that while Sunday’s three-point loss to Brisbane stung the group, it had quickly moved on to taking the positives out of the performance.
The Crows led for the vast majority of the contest, before a downfield free kick gave Brisbane the opportunity to take the lead in the dying stages, and ultimately win the game.
Although it hurt to lose to the Lions for a seventh-straight time, Biddell admitted to the media on Tuesday that the group would take positives out of the fact it was the most consistent performance they’d put up this season.
“They are a great team and for a lot of the contest we felt we were in the box seat, unfortunately there were just a couple of key moments we let slip,” Biddell said.
“Obviously we are always striving to put a full, four quarter performance together - and I feel we’ve been building towards that this season.
“Despite the fact we weren't able to come away with the win, Sunday was probably the most consistent we’ve played this season which was a positive.
“But unfortunately we still had those lapses which cost us, so we’ll just need to go to work and see if we can rectify that moving forward.”
The Crows will be looking to bounce back this Sunday, as they travel to Frankston to take on an undefeated Hawthorn outfit, in what is set up to be a critical game in their season.
The match-up coincidentally mirrors that of the AFL team, who will also take on the Hawks in a do-or-die semi-final at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
“It’s funny how it’s sort of worked out with both of us playing Hawthorn this week, it will be good to see the boys go to work on Friday night,” Biddell said.
“Hopefully they can start the weekend off with a good win on Friday night, and then we can follow suit with a win on Sunday.
“We’ll do a good review on the Hawks and see how we can get them, obviously they’ve started the season very well and it will be a great challenge for us.”
Biddell was also asked by media about suspended forward Izak Rankine, who apologised to the Club’s AFLW team last week.
“It wasn’t really a distraction, it was obviously disappointing, he’s come and apologised to us and was very remorseful,” Biddell said.
“He’s getting the right education and the Club will support him moving forward.”
