Adelaide has announced an extended squad of 24 for its Round Six Clash against Gold Coast at People First Stadium on Sunday.
The Crows will have to make three changes for the trip to Queensland, with Grace Kelly (calf), Chelsea Randall (concussion) and Caitlin Gould (wrist) set to miss the clash due to injury.
Kelly reported a minor calf complaint at training on Thursday afternoon, and the Club decided to take the cautious approach in ruling her out for this weekend’s clash.
“Right at the start of training today, Grace felt something in her calf and it was decided that we would not take the risk with her this week,” Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said.
“The doctors think it’s only a minor one, she’ll have a scan this week, but we’re hopeful she’ll only be out for a week or two.”
As confirmed earlier in the week, Gould suffered a broken wrist against Hawthorn last week and will be out for the foreseeable future.
Senior Coach Matthew Clarke also announced on Thursday morning that Randall had been placed in concussion protocols after presenting delayed symptoms from a knock last week.
“The Cailtin one last week was disappointing, she only lasted about a minute after she fell on her wrist in a marking contest, so she’s had that broken wrist repaired now and is on the mend,” Harper said.
“Chelsea (Randall) got a knock in the head with a couple of minutes to go last week, she presented alright to the doctor and was able to keep going until the end and seemed fine straight after the game.
“But she got some concussion symptoms that evening and the next day, so the doctors have decided to err on the side of caution and put her in the protocols - you can never be too careful with concussion, so she’ll miss this week.”
The Crows have added six players to their extended squad to cover the injured trio.
Running defender Brooke Smith comes into the line-up and has been named on the half back flank.
Hannah Ewings, Lily Tarlinton, Christina Leuzzi, Kayleigh Cronin and Rachelle Martin have also been included on the Crows’ eight-person extended bench, alongside Brooke Boileau, Stevie-Lee Thompson and Amy Boyle Carr.
Adelaide will cut its bench to five when its final team is confirmed on Friday at 4.30pm ACST.
The Crows take on Gold Coast this Sunday afternoon at People First Stadium, with the first bounce at 4.35pm ACST.
