Crows defender Grace Kelly could return for Sunday’s Round Seven clash against Sydney at Unley Oval after missing last weekend’s win against Gold Coast with calf soreness.
Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said Kelly experienced lower leg soreness at training and was made unavailable for selection out of caution.
“Grace experienced some calf soreness at the start of last Thursday’s training, so we stopped her immediately,” he said.
“She had a scan, which didn’t show much, which was a positive thing, but the warning signs were there, and we weren’t prepared to take a risk.
“So, she’ll be a test for this week and some chance to play.”
Harper said Chelsea Randall was also a chance to play this weekend, having been placed in concussion protocols for Round Six.
“According to the medical staff Chelsea is progressing well and so again, she’s a test and a chance to play,” he said.
Meanwhile, Harper said defender Kiera Mueller didn’t play in the AFLW’s scrimmage last week after hyper-extending her elbow at training last Thursday.
“It was decided that she’d give the scrimmage match a miss and I think she’ll probably be OK for selection,” he said.
In good news for the longer-term injured players, Harper said Caitlin Gould (returning from a broken wrist), Hannah Munyard (broken ankle) and Georgia McKee (ACL) were all progressing well.
“Caitlin’s arm is still in a sling, but in the next week or so that should come off and she should be able to start doing some more training,” Harper said.
“And in the next week or so both Hannah and Georgia will start running on grass again.”
