Adelaide recruit Callum Ah Chee has been selected to represent Western Australia in the upcoming State of Origin clash against Victoria.

Born in Derby, Ah Chee played junior football for Kelmscott before featuring for South Fremantle in the WAFL.

He also represented WA at the under-18 Championships in 2014 and 2015.

“To say I’m excited to take part is an understatement,” Ah Chee said.

“I consider myself a proud Western Australian so to represent the state against Victoria will be an honour I’ll never forget.

“The team is looking great and I’m sure the spectacle of the match will truly capture the attention of footy fans across the country.”

Ah Chee will be joined on the trip West by Crows assistant coach Nathan van Berlo, who has been named as an assistant coach to Dean Cox.

Van Berlo was drafted by the Crows with Pick 24 in 2004 from West Perth.

“It’ll be fantastic to be in the coach’s box,” van Berlo said.

“Adelaide is certainly home now but I still have a strong connection to the state of Western Australia.

“I’ll do everything Dean (Cox) needs of me and hopefully we end the day with a big win over Victoria.”

The State of Origin game between Western Australia and Victoria will take place on Saturday, February 14, at 7.10pm ACDT (local 4.40pm AWST).

It will be played at Optus Stadium.
