Crows midfielder/forward Izak Rankine has received a Goal of the Year nomination for his incredible snap during the final quarter of the Crows’ Round Two match against the Western Bulldogs.
The 25-year-old marked the ball in the north-eastern pocket (also known as Eddie Betts’ pocket), only for the umpire to call play-on.
He then took three quick steps to put space between him and Bulldogs Skipper Marcus Bontempelli, before kicking a goal from 40m out on the angle.
The incredible moment had fans up on their feet and belting out ‘Whoomp! (There It Is)’ - his goal song - and teammates ran from every angle to celebrate with him.
Rankine’s goal put the Crows in front for the first time since the second quarter and almost won the hosts the match.
