Since Irish recruit Ailish Considine first arrived in Adelaide back in November, she has visited over 40 cafes across the city.

With her tourist hat firmly on, AFC Media asked the 26-year-old to give us her top 10.

Swish's delish cafes of Adelaide

I’ve had a long list to get through thanks to recommendations from my Crows teammates.

MJ [Marijiana Rajcic] gave me a list when I arrived in Adelaide of her favourite coffee/brunch spots and I’ve been slowly checking them off.

She, along with some of the girls, have been helping me get through the list, which gets bigger every week with new recommendations and places I stumble upon.

As we are in season and training, the cafes and food choices have to be pretty healthy so you’re not going to see any hot cakes, French toasts or freak shakes here - that will have to wait until the end of the season!

With that in mind, here are my top 10 healthy brunch spots in Adelaide... so far.

1. Crudo, Croyden Park

No matter what you’re in the mood for, Crudo has every option covered. Their super healthy menu has everything: salad bowls, smoothies, smashed avo, granola, raw treats, pancakes and great coffee! Everything I’ve tried has tasted amazing, I’ve never left there disappointed. Hats off to MJ for the recommendation and being my partner in crime for getting through the menu!

2. Mr Sunshine's, Thebarton

Another favourite and one that I’ve been to a couple of times. Great coffee, great food and great service. The place itself is a hidden gem just outside the city, it’s quirky and has really cool vibes. The menu has everything you’d expect a good cafe to have. I highly recommend the marinated chicken and black quinoa salad.

3. Coffee Institute, Walkerville

By far the best fritters I’ve tried in Adelaide so far. It has made my list on that alone. It was the perfect dish, full of colour and flavour. Looking forward to getting through the rest of their menu which had so many great choices. Loved their coffee also.

4. PBA Coffee House, Torrensville

If you like raw bowls and treats, healthy pancakes and great coffee, then PBA is the place to go. One of the best açaí bowls I’ve tasted and it’s topped off with their house made granola. I ventured out and tried the snickers bowl and I was not disappointed. The best thing about PBA is that all the ingredients are natural so you know you’re getting good quality, great tasting food every time. Chelsea, MJ, Sal and Hatchy have all helped me try this place!

5. Trouble & Strife, Goodwood

Tops the list for cheap and cheerful. Absolutely loved the granola and Bircher muesli. Really good quality food, great specials and an extensive menu. It’s my go to place when I don’t want to feel guilty about spending all my money on brunch and coffee. Great value for great food. Shout out to Sal for helping me find this one after one of our boxing classes at Arruda.

6. A Mother’s Milk, Unley

The best gluten free bread I’ve had in Adelaide without a doubt. I got the smashed avo, it was top notch and was made 100 times better by the gluten free bread. Cool place, nice menu and good coffee. Definitely a place I’d go back to for the bread alone. Thanks CJ and Rell for the recommendation!

7. Alimentary Eatery, Brighton

My favourite granola I’ve tried in Adelaide so far. The perfect size and combination of granola, fruit and yogurt. Love their presentation every time. The coffee is good, the menu has everything you need and they have a good variation on their specials. Sal Riley was my expert coffee taster here!

8. Argo on the Parade, Norwood

The menu! There is so much to choose from, that’s probably the only downfall I have for Argo (and that’s not really a bad thing). I’ve tried the smashed avo and a smoothie bowl, both were delicious. Like Crudo, it has absolutely everything covered. It has great tasting food and coffee and I love the interior. This one got recommended to me by a lot of people.

9. Corner Store Cafe, Dulwich

Found this place with the girls after one of our Captains Runs at Norwood Oval. Loved the extensive menu. Found it hard to even pick what to get there was so many really good options. The avo smash was right up there with the best I’ve had and it probably had the best halloumi I’ve ever tasted. Definitely a place to go back to.

10. Bomdia Bowls, Glenelg

Made the list because of the PB bowl. My favourite peanut butter bowl I’ve tasted. So many bowls to choose from, they even do bowls that are half and half if you really can’t decide. The place itself has a really cool interior, lots of raw healthy treats and plenty Kombucha flavors to choose from. Ideal place to grab and go and eat while chilling on the jetty and watching the sun set.
