Injury update: Round 20

Dr Jones & Partners Injury Update: R20 Crows GM of High Performance Matt Hass speaks to the health of the list ahead of Round 20.

Ruckman Reilly O’Brien faces a fitness test later this week after experiencing low-level concussion symptoms following an incident in Adelaide’s loss to Carlton on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was removed from play following a marking contest that took him to ground late in the final quarter.

Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said O’Brien would undergo the Club’s concussion protocol this week, but early signs were positive.

“Reilly’s looking quite good, obviously he enters the concussion protocol now,” Hass said.

“He’ll be managed this week, but we expect him to play.”

Defender Alex Keath has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with St Kilda.

“He’s been on managed loads for the last couple of weeks with some ankle soreness,” Hass said.

“He was managed last week so we’ll build his training loads over this week and we expect him to play against West Coast.”

Cam Ellis-Yolmen will also miss this weekend after taking longer to progress in his rehabilitation than first predicted.

“Cam took about a week longer to progress to Alter-G (anti-gravity treadmill) running than expected so we’ve had to re-evaluate his (rehabilitation) time frame,” Hass said.

“We’re hopeful that will progress over the coming fortnight and he will be available soon after that.”

Young Crow Ned McHenry will also need longer to overcome a back injury he sustained last month.
