Adelaide has been able to stockpile draft selections to enhance a multi-year strategy to rejuvenate its playing list.

The Crows currently hold six picks inside the top 50 at next month’s national draft, as well as a host of future selections secured during the player exchange period, which closed on Wednesday night.

It comes on the back of securing Chayce Jones, Ned McHenry and Will Hamill early in last year’s draft.

Adelaide went into the 2019 home and away season with the AFL’s third oldest playing list.

However, there will be a significantly younger list profile going forward after the official departures of Eddie Betts, Sam Jacobs, Hugh Greenwood, Alex Keath and Josh Jenkins.

22-year-old ruck-forward Billy Frampton has joined the Club from Port Adelaide, while a third-round compensation selection was awarded for Cam Ellis-Yolmen exercising his free agency rights.

Crows General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said the Club was happy with its current bundle of selections and what it could potentially turn into on draft night.

He added the Club would also consider trading picks in the lead up to and on the night of the draft, as per League rules, if the right opportunity presented.

“As previously mentioned, our strategy focuses on bolstering our list through the draft, and that was the case last year and we will do it again in a few weeks,” Reid said.

“It is really important that we also expose the emerging talent we already have at the Club to more game time at the elite level.

“We were targeting another young tall during this trade period and were thrilled to get Billy Frampton, who brings a real competitiveness.

“There is always change within the industry at this time of year and a number of older or more experienced players have moved to other clubs and we wish them well.”
