Another win at the 'G, a games record on the rise and three Crows hit career highs. Here are the key numbers and historical notes from Adelaide’s Round Nine win over Richmond.
Crows break MCG hoodoo with recent record
Adelaide’s success in its 84th AFL game at the MCG was its 33rd win at the venue. The Crows have won four of their past five games at the MCG after suffering a run of ten consecutive losses from 2017 through to 2024. It was Adelaide’s last minor round game at the MCG this season and it is only scheduled to play two more games in Melbourne, against the Western Bulldogs (Round 14) and Essendon (Round 21), both at Marvel Stadium.
Rankine dominates at the MCG as Milera and Cook hit career highs

He had a career-high 33 disposals (30 was his previous best) and nine tackles, plus eight score involvements, four clearances, six intercepts and 684 metres gained. And if you had Rankine in your AFL Fantasy side, he scored the most (162) points for the round. Half-back Wayne Milera equalled his career-best 34 disposals, had nine score involvements and eight intercepts and winger Brayden Cook had a career-best 22 disposals.
Rory Laird climbs to seventh on Adelaide’s all-time games list
Rory Laird has jumped into seventh place on the Crows’ all-time AFL game list. The former rookie has now played 276 games, going past former captain Simon Goodwin (275) to be only two games behind Nigel Smart. Five Crows have played 300 or more for the Club, from Andrew McLeod (340), Tyson Edwards (321), Mark Ricciuto (312), Ben Hart (311) and Taylor Walker (308).
McAndrew marks milestone with first AFL goal and big ruck numbers
Lachlan McAndrew enjoyed kicking his first AFL goal in his 11th game (two for Sydney and nine for the Crows). The 210cm ruck was important around the ground on Sunday, with 33 hit-outs, three clearances, four marks and four intercepts. Only Sydney’s Brodie Grundy has recorded more hit-outs so far this season, with 317 to McAndrew’s 296.
Former Crow’s kids take centre stage as team mascots

Jay Boyle becomes first Crow to reach 100 SANFL games as a development player
Jay Boyle became the first Crows development player to play 100 SANFL games for the Club in Saturday’s clash with Sturt at Unley Oval. A three-time winner of the Dean Bailey Development Player Award, Boyle started his SANFL career with Glenelg (five games in 2017) before joining the Crows in 2021. He missed only three games on the way to the milestone. Kieran Strachan is the only other Crow to play 100 SANFL games for the Club.
