Former Crow Rhett Biglands has shared a hilarious behind‑the‑scenes tale about how his car - and not by choice - ended up playing a surprise role in teammate Mark Ricciuto’s proposal to wife, Sarah.

Speaking on this week’s episode of Crows Chat, Biglands explained how a New Year’s trip to Ricciuto’s hometown of Waikerie became the unlikely backdrop to the proposal.

“I bought my car off of Roo’s brother, it was brand new, he’s a good car salesman, Craigie, we used to go up the river a lot… we’d go up to Waikerie and hang out with all of Roo’s mates,” Biglands said.

“We had a New Year's up there at Overland Corner (hotel)… halfway through the night at about 11.30pm, it hadn’t hit midnight just yet, Roo came up to me and said; ‘I want your keys’ I said ‘I’m not giving you my keys, mate’.

"He goes again ‘give me your keys’, so I gave him my keys and he drove off and took Sarah with him… So he proposed to Sarah in the front seat of my car at Overland Corner.”

Also on this week’s episode, Biglands speaks about how he became a Crow and his media career post-AFL, while co-hosts Mark ‘Thommo’ Thompson and Ebony Marinoff dissect the Crows’ first half of the season.
