Adelaide midfielder Chayce Jones has had his one-match ban for striking upheld by the SANFL Tribunal.

Jones was charged with striking South Adelaide’s Harley Sparks during the third quarter of Saturday’s game at Magain Stadium.

The incident was graded as intentional to the body with medium impact.

Jones and his legal counsel, Sam McDonough, argued that the conduct was careless having occurred in the course of Jones attempting to execute a tackle and impede the kick, and that the impact should be reduced from medium to low.

Adelaide General Manager Football Operations and Compliance, Tom Hurley, said the Club was disappointed with the outcome and would consider its options.

“Whilst we respect the decision of the SANFL Tribunal, we felt that we had a strong, well-presented case,” he said.

“We will review the findings before we make any decision regarding an appeal.”

Adelaide plays North Adelaide at Prospect Oval on Saturday afternoon at 2.10pm.
