The Adelaide Football Club congratulates Danielle Paredes (née Ponter) and her husband Nate, who are expecting their first child.
The 26-year-old forward is due to give birth in December and will be placed on the Club’s inactive list for the 2026 AFLW season.
Crows Executive General Manager AFLW Bree Brock said both the team and the broader Club were thrilled for the parents-to-be.
“While we will miss Danielle on the field this year, we are excited for Nate and her to start their parenthood journey, and we look forward to supporting them in every way we can,” she said.
“Danielle wants to spend as much time around our group as possible and during pre-season has been continuing to train with the group as much as she can.
“She is hopeful that she will be able to return to football at the elite level in 2027."
Paredes has played 86 games and kicked 91 goals for the Crows since debuting in 2019 and is the Club’s all-time leading AFLW goal-kicker.
Paredes said she was excited to step into a new phase of life.
“Kids have always been a very important part of both our lives, and we love them very much, so to be able to have our own is something very special,” she said.
“For now, footy has to take a step back and I have mixed emotions about that because footy has been such a strong part of my life for a long time, but I’m very happy and excited.”
