Walker reaches 700 goals in style

Taylor Walker didn’t keep the 50,000-plus crowd waiting long for his 700th career AFL goal. After earning a free kick at the 24-minute mark of the first quarter, Walker added another goal to his highlights reel with a drop punt from the boundary line in front of the old scoreboard hill. He finished with three goals to take his tally to 702 from 314 games, overtaking Fremantle’s Matthew Pavlich (700) to move to 27th spot on the VFL/AFL list. 

Collingwood’s Team of the Century forward Dick Lee is in range on 707 and St Kilda’s Nick Riewoldt finished his career with 718 goals. Walker recorded a team-high eight score involvements from 16 disposals on Thursday night against the same club he made his AFL debut against in Round One of 2009. 

Keays' remarkable run continues

Ben Keays played his 150th AFL game for the Crows, not missing a game since he made his debut for Adelaide in Round Two of the 2020 season. The former Brisbane Lion shared the 150 milestone with coach Matthew Nicks and has now played a total of 180 AFL games.

Strong contributions across the ground

Sam Berry led Adelaide’s disposal count with a career-high 30 and Josh Worrell had a game-high 12 intercepts, including six marks. Berry also won 10 clearances while Riley Thilthorpe took a game-high three contested marks and kicked three goals for the fourth time this season. Zac Taylor had three direct goal assists and winger Dan Curtin gathered 17 of his 23 disposals in the first half and took a team-high eight marks while covering a game-high 15.4km.

Magpies maintain Adelaide Oval edge

Collingwood built on its remarkable record at Adelaide Oval. The Pies have now won seven of their ten games at the ground against Adelaide and also had a positive record at Football Park (9-6).
