There are moments in every season when anticipation gives way to opportunity, and as a Club we find ourselves staring at one of those moments.
We’re embarking on another AFL finals campaign and there is a real sense of excitement and belief.
Firstly, I want to thank you for the part you continue to play in our progress.
Our membership tally has now moved beyond 85,000 - another significant milestone – and a reflection of the passion that exists throughout the Crows community.
We listened closely to the feedback on ticketing access following last year’s finals series and have worked to improve the purchase process.
This year there will be two member priority windows. Priority One will be for seasonal access members, with Priority Two for reduced access, such as 3-game members.
We know finals ticketing can generate plenty of interest and, at times, frustration, so the aim is to provide a clearer process while recognising the different levels of game access within our membership categories.
Please keep a close eye on your email as you will receive further correspondence outlining the relevant timings, eligibility and details of how to purchase tickets. I also encourage you to act quickly when your purchasing timeframe opens.
From a football perspective, there has been some outstanding individual recognition this week.
Congratulations to Jordan Dawson and Wayne Milera on their selection in the All-Australian team.
It is a significant achievement and acknowledgement for the standard and consistency of their football across the season.
Jordan’s recognition through the AFL Players’ Association Awards – Most Courageous and Best Captain - is also much deserved.
To be held in such high regard by your peers carries genuine weight and says plenty about the respect he has earned across the competition.
A special mention to Izak Rankine, who was named in the extended 46-man All Australian squad.
Izak has produced some incredible football and can be as influential as any player in the competition.
Collectively, our men’s team enters this finals series far better prepared than it was at the same time last year.
The experience of 12-months ago provided honest feedback about the pressure, intensity and discipline finals demand.
We’ve also been able to better manage the health of our squad to ensure everyone is primed and there is a strong sense of self-belief in what our players, coaches and football staff can achieve.
Our AFLW team has had a challenging 0-2 start to the season.
There have been positive patches but we have not yet produced the consistency required across four quarters.
As you may have noticed, faster ball movement underpins our new game style, and the group has an opportunity to respond in our second home game of the season against West Coast.
Unfortunately, our SANFL season has drawn to a close, having not qualified for the finals.
I’d like to thank Matthew Wright and his coaching group, as well as the staff and players, for their efforts and the support they afford the broader men’s program.
It is an important time for our Club.
