The Adelaide Football Club have launched a new bot for Facebook Messenger ahead of Thursday night’s Qualifying Final against Greater Western Sydney.

The CrowBot provides fans with instant information about the 2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series, the Club’s playing list and includes a mini-game for Crows fans to engage with.

Over time, CrowBot will evolve its artificial intelligence technology to understand more complex queries.

CEO Andrew Fagan said it was another exciting development for the Club and its fans.

“We want to be a leader with the integration and trialling of new technology and this is another initiative which allows our Members and supporters to engage with the Club in a new way at an exciting and important time of year,” Fagan said.

“Will continue to provide our 600,000 plus fans with unique and engaging experiences, and we hope they will have some fun interacting and learning about latest Club news and alike using the CrowBot.

“It is at the forefront of innovative digital technology and follows last month’s successful delivery of industry-leading live 360-degree video.”

The Crows worked with Vancouver-based digital marketing platform Tradable Bits and Sports Geek to build the Facebook Messenger Bot.

What is a Facebook Messenger Chatbot?

A Messenger Chatbot is an automated messaging service powered by artificial intelligence that users can interact with via the Facebook Messenger platform. It is designed to handle requests that often require a phone call, web search or mobile app.

Why was the CrowBot built?

The CrowBot was built to provide Adelaide Crows fans with instant responses to queries as they need them around the 2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series, detailed information about our current players as well as cool stuff like an interactive mini-game.

CrowBot’s features and intelligence will progress over time.
