The mock drafts are in ahead of the first round of the 2019 AFL Draft at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday night.

Here is a compilation of who some of the top draft experts are tipping for Adelaide’s first round selection – currently pick No.6.

CALLUM TWOMEY, AFL MEDIA

Fischer McAsey

Height: 197cm
Weight: 91kg
Position: Defender
DOB: 08/03/2001
From: Sandringham Dragons

Rationale: Adelaide has put plenty of time into McAsey across the season, and could land him with its first pick. The Crows moved back from pick No.4 to No.6 in a deal with the Giants confident a player they liked would be available, and McAsey was never going to be off the board by No.6, despite some interest from the Swans. The Crows don't have much youth in their key-position ranks so McAsey shapes as a long-term player if they swoop.

Local option Dylan Stephens is right in the Crows' mix and would also bring something new to their midfield unit. Half-backs Hayden Young and Lachie Ash have also been linked to the club, while Sam Flanders will be considered if on the board.

Rationale: Adelaide continues to be strongly linked to McAsey and look set to opt for its desired big man ahead of classy midfielder Dylan Stephens. But he’s still in the mix as is Hayden Young if he slides.

Rationale: The Crows will shape the first round of the draft. Their selection is set to be between McAsey and local South Australian Dylan Stephens. The lack of talls potentially available at the club’s second selection might help them make the tough call.

DANIEL CHERNY, THE AGE

Rationale: Daniel Talia is heading towards the twilight of his career so the rebuilding Crows could do with a key defensive successor, especially having lost Alex Keath to the Bulldogs. The fact they were comfortable trading with the Giants also suggests they believed the player they wanted at No. 4 was still going to be there at No. 6. South Australian Dylan Stephens has also been linked to this selection over the last 48 hours so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Crows went that way instead, with some rivals of a view that this was a flip of the coin call for Adelaide.
