Brodie Smith topped the coaches votes in his 100th game at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Smith gathered 26 possessions at 88.5 per cent efficiency. The running half-back also generated five inside 50ms and four rebounds 50ms, as well as kicking two trademark long-range goals.

Evergreen midfielder Scott Thompson was judged the next-best player on the ground by Don Pyke and Damien Hardwick. Thompson was Adelaide’s equal-leading possession getter with 28. He also won seven clearances, laid seven tackles, generated six inside 50ms and kicked two goals.

Rory Sloane, who also bagged two goals, received three votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award. Sloane finished with 21 possessions at 90.5 per cent efficiency, and won seven clearances.

Three players earned three votes. Crows Richard Douglas and Kyle Cheney, and Richmond captain Trent Cotchin. Douglas kicked an equal career-high three goals and won seven clearances. Cheney was resolute in defence, and also amassed 18 possessions – including a game-high nine intercept possessions – at 94.4 per cent efficiency.

Forward Eddie Betts, who kicked three goals and assisted in two others, received two votes, while Tigers playmaker Bachar Houli, who racked up 39 touches, was awarded one.

Four players received a perfect 10 votes on the weekend: Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray, North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein, Geelong skipper Joel Selwood and in-form Sydney Swans midfielder Luke Parker. Parker sits atop the overall leaderboard with 29 votes after three rounds.

Betts and fellow forward Tom Lynch lead Adelaide’s voting with 10 each.
