Young defender Fischer McAsey will be given the opportunity to press his claims for a Round One debut in Friday’s pre-season clash with Gold Coast at Noarlunga Oval.

Coach Matthew Nicks presented McAsey to the members in attendance at the Club’s Annual Members’ Meeting, revealing last year’s No.6 draft pick would likely play against the Suns.

“I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves here, but you’ll probably see Fischer this Friday,” Nicks said.

“Fischer hasn’t put a foot wrong since he came on board and we expect that from him as a really early, high draft pick. A fantastic key back and has done some amazing work with Tals [Daniel Talia].”

Nicks said the Crows would take a strong side into its final Marsh Community Series hit-out, with 22 players set to pull on the boots.

“It’ll be one where we’ll play a strong side. We’re going to play 22 players, that’ll be the first time we’ve done that so far,” Nicks said.

“We’ll be looking to really get some cohesion among the group.

“You’ll see our best players out there for this game, the guys who deserve to have a crack at it and we’re really now looking towards Round One.”
