Crows ruck Jessica Foley has suffered a mid-foot sprain and could miss up to four to six weeks of the 2020 season.

The injury occurred in the second quarter of Adelaide’s match against Carlton and Foley sat out of the second half of the match.

Adelaide will also be without forward Eloise Jones in Saturday’s Round Five clash against North Melbourne.

Jones injured her right AC joint during the Round Four loss to Carlton at Hisense Stadium (Richmond Oval).

Crows AFLW coach Matthew Clarke said that while Foley was likely to spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines, Jones could be in contention as early as next week.

“Eloise’s injury shouldn’t be too bad, but with the six-day break it’s a bit too short for her unfortunately,” Clarke said.

“With Jess, we’ll wait and see as they (mid-foot sprains) are a bit unknown, hopefully she’ll be back in the season’s timeframe but it’s going to be touch and go.”

In more positive news, both Erin Phillips and Rhiannon Metcalfe pulled up well after their first game back from long term injury layoffs.

“One of the most pleasing aspects of the game is that both of our girls coming back from long term injuries got through,” Clarke said.

“Having played a game of footy they were a bit sore, but they are ultimately in good health and ready to go again.

“Rhi ended up playing for more minutes that we had anticipated (due to Foley’s injury) but she was able to get through it and that gives us confidence that she’ll be able to do that again.”

The Crows will face North Melbourne at North Hobart Oval at 3.10pm ACDT on Saturday afternoon.

Channel 7 Adelaide will broadcast the game live from 2.30pm.
