Adelaide cannot dwell on the loss to North Melbourne if it is still serious about playing finals in 2020, midfielder Ebony Marinoff has said.

The Crows suffered a 42-point loss against the Kangaroos in Hobart on Saturday but will need to quickly switch focus to the upcoming clash with GWS.

With just three games remaining this season, a win against the Giants will be crucial in keeping the Clubs’ finals hopes alive.

“It’s pretty cliche, but the position we put ourselves in is we need to go out and win against GWS,” Marinoff said on Tuesday.

“In a short season, we’re three losses and two wins… It’s cutting it fine.

“We need to focus on the weekend and keeping our season alive.”

The 22-year-old collected 26 disposals in Round Five but was overrun by a dominant North Melbourne midfielder which included Jasmine Garner, Emma Kearney and Ashleigh Riddell.

Adelaide was without several key players due to injury, but Marinoff made clear that was no excuse.

“We’re undermanned in the middle and didn’t have EJ (Eloise Jones), Erin Phillips, Chloe Scheer in the forward line,” Marinoff said.

“(But) injuries happen and it’s an opportunity for other players to stand up.”

Co-captain Phillips made a successful return to football in Round Four against Carlton but pulled up too sore for North Melbourne following a short six-day turnaround

“The knee is fine, she was just sore,” Marinoff said.

“It’s not like she was on reduced minutes (against Carlton)... but the six-day turnaround definitely didn’t do her any favours.

“She’ll train this week and hopefully be out there on the park this weekend.”

Adelaide will face GWS on Sunday at 2.40pm at Hisense Stadium (Richmond Oval).
