Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks is in favour of any idea that brings football back sooner, but is wary of the details.

Speaking to the media via Zoom on Wednesday, Nicks said flexibility would be key to football’s eventual return.

“I’m in favour of whatever is best for the league,” Nicks said.

“The priority is just to get footy played, if that means hubs, so be it.

“At this point we don’t know a lot about how that would work, (but) we’re flexible and will support whatever they need.”

Although Nicks favoured the return of games being played, he said a final stamp of approval would be reserved following more details being released.

“When you dig a little deeper and start to know what the detail is, that’s when you can start making big statements,” he said.

“Where would we play games, where would we base people, how does the game look?

“We’ll support whatever the AFL puts forward (but) we don’t want to put anyone in danger at the same time.

“The number one priority is the health of our people, the number two priority is to play games of football.”

On Tuesday, Adelaide forward Taylor Walker told Triple M he was wary of the idea.

“I reckon if you went and had six teams in one hub, if the coronavirus did happen to get inside it would spread quite quickly and it’d get across six teams,” Walker said.

“Rather than it get inside one club and just infect them.”
