Adelaide captain Rory Sloane will wait for a final decision from the AFL before weighing in on the proposed quarantine hubs.

Quarantining clubs for an extended period could kick-start the 2020 season, but it could come at the expense of players seeing their families.

Sloane, who has seven-month-old child Sonny at home, urged the football community to await the AFL’s verdict.

“I honestly don’t think we’re truly going to know until May 11,” Sloane told Triple M’s The Rush Hour.

“To make any calls before then… I don’t think you can.

“You’ve seen the proposal and everyone will have a heap of different thoughts depending on what stage of life they’re at.”

WHERE ARE THEY KNOW: Crows small forward Ian Callinan

The 30-year-old, who was appointed sole captain at the beginning of 2020, admitted he was hesitant to leave his wife and son for the mooted 20 weeks.

“I live in Adelaide, away from my (extended) family,” he said.

“It would be a unique situation, being away for 20 weeks and leaving Belinda one out.

“(And) Sonny growing up in that time… it would be tough on all of us.”

CHEF SLOANE: Rory kicks up a storm for his teammates

Regardless of how football returns, Sloane believes cooperation between the AFL, players and fans will be crucial in the competition’s success.

“The most important thing is to make sure the game still thrives,” Sloane said.

“It will struggle if we don’t all work together.”
