Two Crows face fitness tests ahead of Saturday night’s clash with Essendon.

All Australian defender Daniel Talia (groin) and dashing wingman David Mackay (corked quad) finished Showdown XLIII on the interchange.

Talia reported tightness in the opening term but was able to play out the majority of the match against Port Adelaide.

“For precautionary reasons and the state of the game, we were able to rest him with about 10 minutes to go,” Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said of Talia.

“He’s pulled up pretty well this week. He’ll be a test for this weekend.”

Mackay, 29, sustained a heavy hit to the thigh in the opening minutes of the clash with the Power.

“That was reasonably significant,” Hass said.

“We did what we could. The physios and doctors put a fair bit of work into him. But after making one attempt back out on the ground, unfortunately we had to stop his day there.”

Defender Kyle Hartigan remains at least one week away from his return from a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old’s last AFL appearance was against Carlton at the MCG in Round 15.

“He won’t be available this week, but we’re hopeful he’ll be available the following week in Round 22,” Hass said.

Ruckman Reilly O’Brien (back) and utility Curtly Hampton (ankle) could return to action within the next fortnight.

“They’ve both done a power of work in their rehab,” Hass said.

“They’re tracking really well and we’re hopeful that they’ll be available in the next 1-2 weeks.”

Young forward Elliott Himmelberg remains unavailable for selection due to a foot injury.
