Adelaide’s young playing list could “gain a lot of benefits” by temporarily relocating to an interstate hub according to captain Rory Sloane.

The State Government confirmed on Wednesday night that SA clubs would not be granted an exemption from quarantine measures, despite the AFL’s request.

Sloane, however, believes the Club’s 44 players will reap rewards from spending additional time together and strengthening their connections.

“As a footy club I think we love the opportunity, love the challenge,” Sloane said.

“It’ll certainly help to make sure this group gels, spend some time with each other.

As Bicks [Mark Bickley] would know, the more time you spend away with each other, you do solidify really solid relationships and bond with those guys.

“So that’ll be one huge positive.”

From a personal standpoint, Sloane admitted it would be incredibly difficult for players and staff with young families to relocate interstate.

The 200-game veteran, who has wife Belinda and eight-month-old son Sonny at home, presumed they would be able to join him in a hub if they did eventuate, but it was just a “wait and see”.

“I made mention of this a few weeks back, it would be hard leaving your son and wife behind,” Sloane said.

“I think the AFL will make sure there are measures around that; that we can still see our family, still have them come along.”
