Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks is confident captain Rory Sloane and defender Jake Kelly will be fit to face Gold Coast on Sunday.

Sloane suffered a severe corked thigh against the Power on Saturday night and will need to face fitness tests before selection is assured, however has been fortuitous with the eight-day break.

“At this point, he’ll do limited training today from a contact point of view,” Nicks told the media on Thursday.

“He’s progressing really well… because it’s an eight-day break, we’re confident he’ll get up.

“Today will be more management than anything.”

Kelly will face one more concussion test before being cleared to play but is so far looking promising.

“Concussions are a really interesting one… we don’t want to take any chances with it,” Nicks said.

“He’s had a number of tests, I think his last one is today that needs to pass.

“He’s gone through and passed all the tests he needs to at this point.”

Adelaide will face the Suns on Sunday at 1.05pm (AEST) at Metricon Stadium.
