Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks has praised the professionalism of rucks Reilly O’Brien and Nic Naitanui following a Twitter gaffe earlier this week.

After O’Brien accidentally tweeted his game notes about the Eagles ruckman, the pressure was on both men to deliver.

“First bounce, ROB mentioned he (Naitanui) was starting home down,” Nicks told the media after the Round Six loss.

“We know Nic Nat is a competitor, there was a fair bit of passion in the way he played.

“I thought ROB played really well today against a very accomplished ruckman.

“It (the tweet) played out well, added to the game… it was a completely honest mistake.”

Nicks also praised his side's effort and intensity following a disappointing return to football in June.

The Crows coach said the focus had now shifted to another area that needed to be addressed.

“We’re able to move on from intensity… the effort and intensity is right where it needs to be,” Nicks said.

“We need to be able to adjust when the opposition adjusts, that was the difference today.

“We challenged, and then they adjusted… (but) we were unable to adjust ours unfortunately.”
