Adelaide midfielder Brodie Smith has received a Goal of the Year nomination for his third-quarter long bomb against West Coast on Saturday.

Smith first took the Sherrin on Adelaide’s defensive 50 with his subsequent kick to Ben Keays falling short.

The 28-year-old worked hard to follow up the miskick, receiving the handball from Keays before another give-and-go with defender Will Hamill in the centre square.

Smith unloaded with a long drop punt from just past the centre circle which cleared the forward pack to land at the top of the goalsquare and roll through for the Crows’ fourth major of the afternoon.

Brisbane midfielder Lachie Neale and Gold Coast forward Izak Rankine have also been nominated in Round Six.
