Defender Ben Rutten was deemed Adelaide’s best player by the coaches in the round four Showdown.

Rutten was strong in defence all night and received four votes, finishing the game with 22 handballs, seven kicks and nine marks. Scott Thompson was again in the coaches votes with two after collecting 32 disposals and 11 tackles in the midfield.

Thompson leads Adelaide’s coaches votes along with Ben Rutten and Scott Stevens on nine.

Collingwood midfielder Dane Swan leads the overall votes after four rounds with 27, two ahead of Melbourne’s Brent Moloney on 25 with Essendon skipper Jobe Watson on 24.

The 'Champion Player of the Year' is voted on week to week by both of the Senior Coaches on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis.

Each Senior Coach votes on their match only and any player suspensions are disregarded.
