HIGH-FLYING Adelaide forward Brett Burton is set to miss the rest of the 2008 season after the club confirmed he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday's loss to Collingwood at the MCG.

Burton will see a surgeon on Monday, after he tripped on the lead and wrenched his knee in front of Collingwood defender Harry O'Brien during the third quarter.

Fellow Adelaide forward Jason Porplyzia also dislocated his shoulder during the match, popping it in the first term, although Adelaide coach Neil Craig said it was still too early to tell how long the underrated Crow would spend on the sidelines.

"He's had some difficulties with [the shoulder] earlier in the year and it looks like this is the worst it's been, so we'll wait and see and keep our fingers crossed," Craig said.

Craig said it was now up to others to "take the opportunity" up forward in the pair's absence.

"Nathan Bock played there last year for a long period of time, so he's obviously one option, and Nick Gill didn't play today, Luke Jericho didn't play today and we've got a young kid called Taylor Walker, who's been doing some good things in the SANFL," Craig said.

"So all of a sudden they'll probably get some opportunities.

"If Bock went forward, [Ken] McGregor could play back and that type of scenario could unfold."

Meanwhile, Craig said dynamo Andrew McLeod was also likely to be unavailable.

"Andrew, I don't think will be available, he could be another week on top of that," Craig said.
