Crows midfielder Lachlan Sholl is set to make his AFL debut in Wednesday night’s clash with Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.

Sholl was sitting alongside captain Rory Sloane inside Matthew Nicks’ office on Tuesday afternoon when Adelaide’s senior coach delivered the good news.

Speaking to AFC Media immediately after calling his parents, the ecstatic 20-year-old was still pinching himself.

“I can’t believe it. I’m in shock, but I’m so pumped,” Sholl said.

“It’s been 18 months since I got to the club. Everyone that’s helped me along the way, I just want to thank them and get around them because I wouldn’t be here without them.”

Sholl was drafted to West Lakes from the Calder Cannons with pick No.64 in the 2018 AFL Draft.

He follows in the footsteps of father Brett (35 games for Carlton) and his dad’s cousins Craig (235 games for North Melbourne) and Brad (171 games for North Melbourne and Geelong).

Adelaide’s final team will be announced on Tuesday at 5.50pm ACST.
