Adelaide captain Rory Sloane found it difficult to identify one specific highlight from Season 2020, but reflected proudly on the emergence of the Club’s young talent.

With the Crows embarking on a list rebuild, several fresh faces have featured at senior level this year and made their mark on-field, bringing a smile to the skipper’s face.

“I could pick out plenty of Shane McAdam moments … Andy McPherson, Will Hamill, Lachie Sholl, Harry Schoenberg, Elliott Himmelberg moments,” Sloane told AFC Media.

“They just make you smile because that is just an enormous amount of work paying off right there.”

Sloane also praised the attitude of all involved at West Lakes who have contributed to creating a positive environment at the Club.

Despite a challenging year, Sloane said the group’s ethos never wavered and they are now reaping the rewards.

“The best moment for me has been being able to walk into the footy club and it’s still been a really positive environment and one blokes have enjoyed coming into,” Sloane said.

“That’s pretty tough to do in any season, let alone one where you’ve lost the first 13 games, and that takes everyone – coaches, staff, players.

To have that attitude to come in every day and just enjoy each other’s company because that’s the only way you get better and that’s the only way you can improve.

“You’ve got to enjoy it first and then you go to work.

“Work hard and the reward comes after that, and that’s what we’re seeing.”
