Adelaide is set to take advantage of extra list flexibility provided by the AFL by re-listing Ben Davis and David Mackay as rookies for Season 2021.

Under the new rules communicated on Tuesday night, clubs can move up to two players from the senior list to the rookie list for next season.

Maximum list sizes have been set at 44 for next season, inclusive of two Category B rookies with a minimum of 36 required on the senior list and up to six Category A rookies allowed.

Crows General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid welcomed the last-minute change by the League.

“These new rules will assist our list management strategy moving forward and provide important flexibility ahead of a really important draft in two weeks’ time,” Reid said.

“We’ll go into next season with six Category A rookies, with Ben Davis and David Mackay to be re-listed early next week.

“Bryce Gibbs will also be rookie listed for administrative purposes following his retirement this year.

“After list lodgements are completed, the League will consider Bryce to be officially retired and placed on the inactive list.

“The Club will then be able to fill that vacant list spot if it chooses to do so via the AFL’s supplementary selection period.”
