Crows forward Chloe Scheer has been named in the womens.afl Team of the Week for the first time in the 2021 AFLW season after her three-goal performance during Adelaide’s win against the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Midfielder Ebony Marinoff also made the team after her 25 disposal, seven clearance and 413metres-gained game.

It was 685 days between games for Scheer after she tore her ACL in the 2019 AFLW Grand Final.

She made her return in Round Three this season and has played every game since.

Scheer had only kicked one goal prior to Sunday after spending more time in the midfield this season.

Post-game, she said it was nice to hit the scoreboard again.

“It was good to get some goals on the board because I’ve been playing a lot more midfield time, so it was good fun,” Scheer said.

“I was trying to find my form and find my feet and I’ve had little bits in other games but to have an impact like that, that’s what I needed confidence wise and for the team as well.

“I think I found my form now I’ve just got to keep building on top of that.”

Scheer said the team was really excited post-game after securing a finals place.

“It was really important coming into this game to secure a win and now we get to play finals footy and there is nothing better than that,” he said.

“Everyone was up and about and that’s what we need leading into a tough game next week against Collingwood and obviously finals after that.”

The AFL Coaches Association isn’t releasing the Round Eight and Nine votes until after the season, when the announcement of the AFLW Champion Player will be made.

Fellow forward Danielle Ponter is one of the Round Eight AFLW Mark of the Year nominees after taking a hanger in the fourth quarter.
