Adelaide AFLW Senior Coach Matthew Clarke says the Crows are prepared for a fight against Melbourne in Saturday’s Preliminary Final.

The Demons are one of just two sides that defeated the Minor Premiers in the home-and-away season, downing Adelaide by 28 points in Round Seven.

Clarke said his side had learnt some tough lessons from the loss.

“That was probably our poorest performance of the season - but, that’s maybe because the opposition was really good. Sometimes you can only play as well as the opposition lets you,” Clarke said.

“We’ve learnt from that… the contest wasn’t on the level on that night so we know we’ve got to bring that.

“(The Crows) responded really strongly and our two performances off the back of that game were good enough to make finals and land us Minor Premiers.”

Clarke said Adelaide would also relish the opportunity to face-off against a full-strength Melbourne side, with high-profile player Daisy Pearce desperately trying to prove her fitness for finals.

“I hope (Pearce) does play, she’s one of the premium players and we want to showcase what the league’s become,” he said.

The last time the Crows AFLW side took to Adelaide Oval was in front of 53,000 fans in the historic 2019 Grand Final win.

But Clarke said the girls were focused on the present, not the past.

“(The Grand Final) was a long time ago… but there is a different feel now,” he said.

“We’re focused on the game ahead of us.

“Hopefully we can get as many members there and supporters there as possible, it’s going to be a cracking game and the home crowd could be a factor.”

First bounce is at 1.40pm on Saturday April 10, with gates open at 12.30pm.
