Midfielder Ben Keays has received seven coaches’ votes in Adelaide’s three-point loss to Hawthorn on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was rated the second best player on the ground by Matthew Nicks and Alastair Clarkson, behind Hawks midfielder Jaeger O’Meara who was the unanimous best afield with 10 votes.

Keays stuffed the stats sheet at UTAS Stadium, collecting 31 disposals, 17 contested possessions, eight marks, 10 clearances, 13 tackles and a goal.

Paul Seedsman received five votes, finishing with 27 disposals, eight inside 50s, a goal and two goal assists.

He also accumulated 996 metres gained, a League-high for Round Six.

Hawk Jacob Koschitzke (six votes) and Crows debutant Riley Thilthorpe (two votes) also polled, with the young forwards kicking five goals each for their respective sides.

Thilthorpe’s five-goal haul was the most goals on debut by any current AFL-listed player.

Adelaide forward Taylor Walker remains equal fifth on the AFL Coaches Association’s Champion Player Award leaderboard after six rounds.
