Adelaide Chairman John Olson says two western suburbs sites are being considered for the Crows’ new headquarters and training facility.

Thebarton Oval and the Brompton Gasworks site could house the Crows, Olsen revealed when questioned at the SA Press Club on Friday.

“We’ve been looking constructively at Thebarton Oval with the City of West Torrens and SANFL as an option,” he said.

“To make sure we’ve got several options on the table we’ve also been looking at the Brompton Gasworks site.

“It’s convenient in that it’s near the railway station, the tram line finishes within 500 metres and it would allow a green space to be built in that Brompton/Bowden area.”

The land is owned by Renewal SA, which Olsen said had been in preliminary discussions with the Club with “further discussions to take place over the next few weeks and months”.

Olsen said much of the architectural work from the Crows’ North Adelaide facility plans had been able to be transposed to both the Thebarton and Brompton sites.

“It was really important for us to have several options on the table and work through those,” Olsen said.

Elite training facilities for Adelaide’s women’s and men’s teams, a heritage and history museum component, and facilities for the Crows’ membership base are important considerations for each location.

The Chairman said both sites would be considered on their merits and a decision made in the coming months.

“This is a project for decades to come, so we need to get it right,” he said.
