Adelaide small forward Ned McHenry returned to the Club on Tuesday after suffering a concussion in Saturday’s Showdown loss to Port Adelaide.

He has automatically been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with West Coast and will adhere to the AFL’s concussion protocol in conjunction with clinical assessment before returning to play.

“He is back in the Club today which is pleasing and we will step through each of the phases before we determine his availability,” Adelaide’s Head of Football Adam Kelly said.

Fellow small forward Lachlan Murphy is set for surgery on Tuesday after suffering a syndesmosis injury against Port Adelaide.

Murphy was injured in the first quarter at Adelaide Oval and did not return to the game.

Scans confirmed a right syndesmosis injury that will require surgery and he is expected to miss 8-10 weeks.

“Really disappointing news on Lachie Murphy,” Kelly said.

“He’s a really important part of our team and had been enjoying a really good season. He’s having surgery on that ankle today and we expect he will be unavailable for 8-10 weeks.”

Tom Lynch has had successful toe surgery and will commence his rehabilitation at the Club this week. He is expected to miss 8-10 weeks.

Scans have cleared both Riley Thilthorpe (knee hyperextension) and Jordon Butts (finger) of significant damage from the game against Port Adelaide and they are both expected to be available to play West Coast.

Draftee Luke Pedlar missed Saturday’s SANFL Showdown with groin soreness and is expected to be available after this weekend’s state game bye.

“Luke has been managing ongoing groin soreness, he was tested last week in the hope he may have been able to play in the SANFL but he wasn’t able to get up, and we will continue to monitor his progress and see whether he will be available in the next 1-2 weeks.”
