Adelaide forward Riley Thilthorpe has labelled GWS ruckman Shane Mumford “one of the nicest blokes he’s met” after the pair clashed in Round Seven at Adelaide Oval.

Thilthorpe - in his second game - briefly faced Mumford - a 34-year-old, 200-game veteran of the competition.

“In the ruck (against GWS) I was against Mummy (Mumford) which was pretty interesting,” Thilthorpe told Triple M’s The Rush Hour regarding his positions away from the forward 50.

“He’s one of the nicest blokes I’ve ever met… he was awesome.”

Since his debut in Round Six, Thilthorpe has nine goals in four games - including five in Launceston against Hawthorn.

The 18-year-old described it as “living out every kid’s childhood dream”.

“I’m really lucky to be getting a few games under my belt,” Thilthorpe said.

“There was a lot of promising stuff from the team (against West Coast)... we showed a glimpse of what we’re going to be in the future.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t get the job done (but) I think we played really well against a really classy side.”

Although football is clicking for Thilthorpe, the No. 7 isn’t finding as much luck in another sporting passion.

“I’ve had to take a break from golf,” he joked.

“It’s killing my mental stability.”
