Adelaide's Round 11 clash with Richmond has been moved to Giants Stadium in Sydney.

The AFL announced the decision on Thursday in the wake of the Victorian Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown.

Other matches in Melbourne will go ahead without crowds but, due to South Australia's hard border closure, the AFL was forced to move the Crows v Richmond clash away from Victoria.

"As quickly as the landscape changes in the wider community, we are buoyed by the fact our league has successfully worked through similar situations before," AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said.

"This match has been moved due to South Australian border requirements that wouldn't have allowed the Crows to return to Adelaide without two weeks' quarantine."

Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks said his side was prepared to play wherever needed to keep the community safe.

"We're gonna do what we need to do first and foremost to keep everyone safe," he said.

"We'll take extra care (in Sydney) to make sure we don't put anyone at risk during what's already a tough time."

The match will take place on Sunday at 1.40pm ACST (2:10pm AEST).
