Adelaide ruckman Reilly O’Brien will miss this weekend’s clash with Melbourne with a knee injury.

O’Brien hyperextended his right knee in the first quarter of Saturday night’s Showdown and was able to play the game out.

But precautionary scans on Monday night have revealed a low grade lateral ligament tear and O’Brien met with a specialist on Tuesday afternoon.

“It has been determined that the most appropriate course of management for Reilly is to miss this weekend’s game against Melbourne,” Head of Football Adam Kelly said.

“Pleasingly he will not require surgery and is expected to recover fully but that may not be in time for the Round 23 clash with North Melbourne.”
