From Clare, in South Australia’s mid north, Riley Knight moved to Adelaide as a teenager to play for St Peter’s College and Woodville-West Torrens. He represented South Australia at the Under-18 National Championships, impressing along half-forward. He was drafted at No. 46 in the 2013 draft, and finished as joint runner-up in Adelaide’s SANFL Best and Fairest in 2014. Knight made his AFL debut in 2015, playing 11 games before an ankle injury in 2016 restricted him to just one senior appearance. He bounced back in 2017 with 19 appearances, including the grand final. A quieter year followed before the speedy forward played 15 games in 2019 and averaged a career-high 15.7 disposals per game. He notched a career-high 25 against Gold Coast in Round 17. Atkins signed a one-year contract extension ahead of 2020.
