Adelaide secured the exciting forward via a trade with Gold Coast in October, 2022. Rankine, who played 48 games for the Suns after being drafted with Pick No. 3 at the 2018 AFL National Draft, returned home to SA, joining the Crows, who he grew up supporting. Prior to being traded to Adelaide, the forward had kicked 57 goals in three seasons. In his first campaign with the Crows, Rankine impressed with his silky smooth skills and goal sense, finishing 2023 with 36 goals from 20 games.
