Young defender Luke Brown is the latest player to commit to the Crows.

Brown, 20, has played all six games this season, cementing his place in the small defender role made vacant by retired veteran Michael Doughty.

The neat-kicking backman made his AFL debut against Greater Western Sydney in Round 16 last season and capped off the year by winning a premiership with SANFL club, Norwood.

He follows captain Nathan van Berlo, NAB Rising Star Daniel Talia, 2012 All Australian nominees Sam Jacobs and Brent Reilly, forward Tom Lynch and emerging defender Cam Ellis-Yolmen in committing to the Club this year.

General Manager of List Development and Strategy David Noble said Adelaide was pleased to secure Brown’s signature.

“It is fantastic to secure another quality young player for our Club going forward,” Noble said.

“We believe Luke will develop into an excellent player for us with versatility in either defence, where he is currently playing, or even up in the midfield in the future. It’s a positive sign Luke wants to be part of our group and we are really pleased he has committed now.”

Brown joined Adelaide in October, 2011, as part of the same deal with Greater Western Sydney that also saw exciting midfielder Brad Crouch become a Crow. He’s played a total of nine AFL games.
