Luke Brown’s nod has given Adelaide a Club-record four Rising Star nominations in 2013.

Brown, 20, received the final nomination of the season after collecting 21 possessions four marks and holding direct opponent, Josh Hill, goalless in the Crows’ big win over West Coast. The Round 23 performance capped of a consistent year for the skilful small defender, who played 21 of a possible 22 games in only his second AFL season.

Brown follows young teammates Sam Kerridge (Round Nine), Brad Crouch (Round 14) and Rory Laird (Round 20) in earning a nomination in 2013. This eclipses Adelaide’s previous-best Rising Star return in 2009, when Patrick Dangerfield, Taylor Walker and runner-up Andy Otten combined to give the Club three nominations.

It’s the first time since Port Adelaide in 2006 that a team (other than the expansion sides) has produced four nominees in a single season. Greater Western Sydney had eight in 2012.

Adelaide also produced two nominees last year, defender Sam Shaw and eventual winner, Daniel Talia. Only GWS (11) have had more nominations than the Crows (six) in the past two seasons (2012-13).

Brown, Kerridge, Crouch and Laird will attend a presentation at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne on Wednesday, where the overall winner will be crowned.
