Eddie Betts has been nominated for the AFL Goal of the Year for the second straight week.

Betts nailed yet another incredible goal from an almost impossible angle in wet conditions at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

The mercurial forward was pressed hard against the boundary right on the 50m arc late in the second term of Adelaide’s clash with Fremantle.

Betts controlled the wet Sherrin with a pirouette and launched a left-foot kick towards his target. In a similar fashion to his nomination from Round Eight, the shot started wide but worked back brilliantly to bounce through for his second goal of the night.

Ironically, the goal came from the opposite pocket of which Betts famously claimed last season against the Kangaroos in similar circumstances.

The former Blue is enjoying an incredible start to Season 2015 and has already put forward his entry into this year’s AFL Mark of the Year competition.

Saturday’s mind-blowing goal is the fourth time this year that Betts has been nominated for the Goal of the Year award, but somehow he is yet to win the weekly vote.

Midfielders Patrick Dangerfield (Round One) and Scott Thompson (Round Five) have also been nominated this season but failed to progress into the major draw.

Fans can vote multiple times, but only once per 24 hours.

Supporters go into the running for a weekly cash prize of $200 and the major cash prize of $5000 just for voting, thanks to Weet-Bix and Coates Hire.

Weekly nominees are selected by the AFL Media editorial team and the weekly winners will be determined by public voting. Voting opens 12pm each round the day after the last game and will close the night before commencement of the next round (exact days of the week may change depending on fixture).

At the conclusion of the home and away season, the All-Australian Selection Committee shall select the three best goals and marks from the 23 weekly selections.

The top three selections for the Weet-Bix Mark of the Year and Coates Hire Goal of the Year will be placed on www.afl.com.au on September 14. The overall winners will be selected by public voting which will close on September 24.

The Weet-Bix Mark of the Year and Coates Hire Goal of the Year will be announced prior to the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
