Scott Thompson was Adelaide’s stand-out in Saturday’s win over the Brisbane Lions, according to the coaches.
On the day he qualified for AFL Life Membership, Thompson polled nine votes from coaches Phil Walsh and Justin Leppitsch to share top ranking with star Brisbane recruit Dayne Beams.
Thompson won a game-high 10 clearances, had 28 possessions, six tackles, generated six inside 50s, was involved in a team-high 10 scores and kicked a brilliant goal in the last term to help spark the Crows.
Beams was again busy for the Lions, finishing with a game-high 31 disposals, five clearances and four tackles.
Matt Crouch and Rory Laird were the only other Crows to receive votes.
Crouch, who had been the sub in the previous two games, picked up two votes after he had 26 disposals, 16 contested possessions and won eight clearances in 69% game time. Laird, who has now polled votes in six games this season, had 25 disposals, seven intercepts and four score involvements.
Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko, Jack Redden and Mitch Robinson also polled votes.
Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe has extended his lead in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.
He polled eight votes against Collingwood last Thursday night to lift his total to 98, now 37 clear of Sydney’s Dan Hanneberry.
Easton Wood (Western Bulldogs), Jack Riewoldt (Richmond), Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn) and Tom Bell (Carlton) received the maximum 10 votes in round 13.
