Ruckman Sam Jacobs has joined elite company by claiming his third Showdown Medal in Sunday night’s 84-point win over Port Adelaide.

Jacobs was influential against the Power with a match-high 42 hit-outs, including 11 taps to advantage, and two goals in trying conditions at Adelaide Oval. He also laid six tackles, took three marks and earned three clearances to win his duel with Port Adelaide’s Paddy Ryder.

The 202cm Crow joins former Crows captain Mark Ricciuto and ex-Power onballer Josh Francou as a three-time Showdown Medallist. Full list of past winners

Jacobs earned his first Showdown Medal in Round 15, 2012 and was named best-on-ground again in Round 15 of 2014.

Adelaide swept the voting in Sunday night’s record victory over the Power.

Captain Taylor Walker was Jacobs’ nearest challenger for the Medal. Walker finished one vote behind his teammate for his three-goal performance which included eight marks (five contested) and 23 possessions.

Onballers Rory Sloane (six votes) and Brad Crouch (five) were next in line ahead of electric forward Eddie Betts, Matt Crouch and past winner Tom Lynch.
