Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson will be available for Saturday’s big game against West Coast.

Thompson, 33, was a late withdrawal from the Crows team to play St Kilda because of soreness.

The two-time Club Champion was replaced by protégé Matt Crouch, who chalked up a career-high 36 possessions and nine clearances, to pile more pressure on the Crows match committee.

General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said both Thompson and defender Rory Laird, who suffered a corked thigh on Sunday, would be fit for the trip west this weekend.

“Thommo will be fine. He’ll train this week and be available to play,” Burton said.

“Lairdy was able to finish the game, so he’ll be right to train this week as well and be available.”

Adelaide reported no new injuries in its SANFL loss to Sturt at Unley on Saturday.

David Mackay (hamstring) and Alex Keath (knee) both made successful returns from injury.

Young forward Riley Knight didn’t play on the weekend because of an ankle complaint, and will need to prove his fitness at training to line up against Norwood at The Parade on Sunday.

“He (Knight) will get into some training this week. We’ll assess later in the week whether he’s done enough to be available to play,” Burton said.

“If not, he’ll be available after the bye.”

Recruit Curtly Hampton, who is yet to play a game for premiership points at any level this year, also hopes to be ready to return in a fortnight after the mid-season bye. The Club will continue to take a cautious approach to defender Sam Shaw’s recovery from concussion symptoms.

Adelaide’s AFL and SANFL teams both have a bye in Round 13.
