Star midfield trio Rory Sloane, Scott Thompson and Patrick Dangerfield earned votes from the coaches in Adelaide’s 29-point loss to Hawthorn on Thursday night.

Sloane and Thompson each received three votes from Phil Walsh and Alastair Clarkson.

Thompson was the leading possession-getter in the match at Adelaide Oval, racking up 32 touches to go with eight clearances, four tackles, three inside 50ms and a goal assist. Sloane collected 29 possessions, generated seven inside 50ms, laid six tackles, won six clearances and also assisted in a goal.

Dangerfield was the only other Crow to poll a vote, receiving two for his influential performance. The explosive onballer gathered 31 possessions, won eight clearances, laid four tackles and generated three inside 50ms. The two-time All Australian has now earned votes in six games this season – more than any other Crow – for a total of 27.

Hawks captain Luke Hodge was adjudged the best player on the ground. Hodge finished with 25 touches, eight marks, five rebound 50ms and a goal, and received nine votes.

Forward/ruckman David Hale, who kicked two goals and won 28 hit-outs, and midfielder Liam Shiels (25 possessions, eight tackles and a goal) each collected five votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award. The leading goalkicker on the ground, Luke Breust (three goals) was award two votes while skilful half-back Shaun Burgoyne (one) rounded out the voting.

Only two players, West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui and young Carlton star Patrick Cripps, earned perfect 10s in Round 12. Nat Fyfe, whose Fremantle team had a bye, remains on top of the leaderboard with 90 votes. 

Sydney Swans tough nut Dan Hannebery is second on 61 ahead of Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis (48). North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein moved into equal-fourth on the back of a record-breaking 80-hit-out game against Greater Western Sydney.
