The Crows will go into Sunday's Indigenous Round clash with Gold Coast as named.

Forward Matthew Wright will start as the substitute. Acting co-captain Patrick Dangerfield has overcome a back complaint and will take his place in the team.

On Friday, it was announced Andy Otten would play his first AFL game of the season against Gold Coast.

Otten, 25, missed the opening month of the season after injuring his knee in a pre-season trial game against GWS. The versatile Crow has displayed good form in the SANFL since and travelled to Melbourne as an AFL emergency last weekend. Otten replaces young defender Kyle Hartigan in the team to play the Suns. Hartigan, Mitch Grigg and Jared Petrenko are the emergencies.

Coach Brenton Sanderson said Otten, who won the Coach’s Award and finished fifth in Adelaide’s best and fairest last year, would be a valuable addition to the side.

“Andy was a very important player for us last season at either end of the ground,” Sanderson said.

“Andy’s had to wait a bit longer than he probably would’ve liked to get back into the AFL team because our key defenders and forwards have all been in pretty good form. He could spend time down back and up forward on Sunday depending on how we want to structure up.

“Regardless of where Andy plays, he’ll give us a strong contest and a cool head.”

Limited general admission tickets remain for Adelaide’s match against the Suns. Join the Club as a Boundary Line member for just $50 and get access to the game, along with member polo, sports bag and members kit.

The game will be Adelaide’s first home Indigenous Round fixture in nine years. The Crows will wear a special Indigenous guernsey designed by Club legend Andrew McLeod. Find out more about how the Club will celebrate Indigenous Round on Sunday.

There is a bye in the SANFL this weekend because of the state game. Crows State League captain Ian Callinan will be part of the SA team that takes on the VFL in Melbourne on Saturday.

The Crows emergencies as well as Luke Thompson, Angus Graham, Sam Siggins, Rory Atkins, Cam Ellis-Yolmen and Jason Porplyzia are set to play alongside three contenders from the Foxtel reality show “The Recruit” in an exhibition game at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon. With the SANFL competition having a bye, the exhibition game will allow some of Adelaide's AFL-listed players to continue to play and provide opportunities for development players to impress.

The Crows will hold an open training session at Adelaide Oval from 10:00am on Saturday. The session will run approximately one hour.
